The Black Keys are such a polished rock 'n' roll machine these days that it's hard to believe that they were ever as rough and scuzzy as they were on "Thickfreakness." This album is 11 slabs of loose, boozy delta blues. Their next album, "Rubber Factory," is really where they solidified their early sound but "Thickfreakness" stands out, if only because never before or since have The Black Keys sounded just so fuckin' dirty. mattgraupman

As primarily a metal head (the artistic kind, not the gorey kind) I instantly appreciated this album. It's raw and real, Junior is just plainly putting himself out there. Great music. pwangler0521
